Never knew

Well today was a first for me...never knew there were such things as Kitchen Teas!

I was invited to one this afternoon for a friend who is getting married in a couple of weeks...luckily i had already brought a prezzie...or one would have look a right wally!!

Now the name would suggest that it would be kitchen stuff you would get...hmmm not this little black duck...tons and i mean tons of wine and spirits etc...so that would mean hmmmm cellar tea maybe? is there such a thing?

Anyhow.......

Yes indeed there is. When I got married the first time, my friends threw me a Kitchen tea. It was lovely. However, Mummy dearest(alcoholic) was trying to convince everyone HEARTILY, that it should be a Cellar Tea. :D

Kitchen teas used be an occassion where items for the lasundry & pantry would be given as gifts, & not those of the expensive, decorative style, just staple items. Like everything else, their nature has shifted into other, more excessive styles of gifts.

Not to say that there is anything wrong with a cellar tea, mind you...
